SERVICES FOR INDIVIDUALS
that’s hard facts
No one is exempt from experiencing anxiety, depression, and trauma, yet statistics show that Black/African American people experience more intense chronic symptoms of anxiety than white counterparts.
Yet less than half of them seek support.
As the heads of household in roughly 30% of Black homes, women bear the responsibility of assuming multiple roles simultaneously. From sole provider to the role of both parents, primary caretaker, and every position in between, the countless responsibilities placed on Black women can result in unimaginable stress. Despite these numbers, judgement and stigma create barriers that hinder treatment and prevent healing.
More culturally competent, relatable, and trustworthy counselors and therapists are needed to end the cycle of untreated depression and trauma within the Black and African American community.

let’s work towards
your wellness
As stigmas about therapy and mental health awareness are broken, there is a greater need to go the extra mile in meeting clients wherever they are in every aspect of their lives.
Valerie Carmel Teletherapy affords clients the convenience and comfort of receiving treatment from virtually any place they feel open and safe. With no concerns surrounding time-consuming commutes and an increased level of flexibility that works well with busy schedules, teletherapy makes it easy to honor your commitment to caring for your mental health.
As we work together to incorporate self-awareness, self-care, and self-growth into your everyday life, you will become armed with an arsenal of strategies to face anxiety & stress head on.
Valerie Carmel Therapy also works with a wide variety of mental health partners and insurance providers, making treatment an affordable priority.
While I have extensive experience working with children and adolescents, at this time, I my practice will solely focus on working with adults. My primary objective is working with Black women and women of color, which includes African American, Hispanic, and those of Caribbean descent.
My areas of expertise include anxiety, trauma, chronic medical issues, work/life stress as well as life transitions, entrepreneurship, or post-graduation.
Clients with a history of psychosis, eating disorders, substance abuse/alcohol dependence, and/or those who have been hospitalized in an inpatient psychiatric unit within the past 12 months would not be a good fit as these are not my areas of specialization and/or likely don’t meet criteria for teletherapy.
I can provide documentation (known as a Superbill) you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement if you choose. Another option is the self-pay rate with pre-paid therapy packages available for 6, 8 or 12 sessions.
I am currently only providing virtual therapy sessions and you must be located in either Florida or Nevada to access services.
If you are insured and want to confirm I am in-network, please contact my administrative office via email at billing@growtherapy.com.
My self-pay rate for a 55-min video session is $125.
Pre-paid therapy packages are available and as follows:
6 sessions ($115/per session) = $720 (savings of $60)
8 sessions ($100/per session) = $800 (savings of $200)
10 sessions ($95/per session) = $950 (savings of $300)
Open Path members’ sessions are within the agreed upon sliding scale of $30-$60.
